Terrain: The Ride this year will revert to our original route turning left onto River road across the bridge at Taumarunui. Having gone through Ohura for the last two runs we thought we should revert back to the original for those riders for whom it may be their first time. After all variety the spice of life! Departing from The Chateau Tongariro we travel through Taumarunui and onto SH 43 the “Forgotten World Highway” to Mt Egmont/Taranaki via Whangamomona and Stratford. Following the rides terminal point at the Stratford Plateau half way up the mountain, the day ends at the War Memorial Centre at Stratford for prize giving and refreshments. The Forgotten World Highway SH 43 is a riders dream road with hills and valleys in abundance and corners that you dream of in one of NZ's most magnificent back country scenic environs. Lunch stop is at the legendary declared Republic village of Whangamomona.

Saturday Night BBQ. We have reintroduced this feature of the event taking place at the Speight’s Bar in National Park Village 6pm $20 for two courses pp No booking necessary Just walk around from your accommodation in National Park for a BBQ meal and a drink and tell lies about your fantastic bike!

Shirts still available but only through ordering on the day. Pre-ordering of shirts is simply too much of a hassle. Prices increased by $5 to cover postage etc. Allow three weeks for delivery.

Ohakune has plenty of accommodation from luxury at the Powderhorn Hotel to Motels and back packer and is only 15mins ride from National Park National Park
